7 Tips for choosing a photographer
7 Tips for choosing a photographer
TIPS

If you are thinking of doing a photo shoot in Huatulco (or in any other location), you are probably comparing all the options available.

Here are some tips to help you make your decision easier:

1. The style 😎

Before thinking about anything else, make sure the photographer's style is to your liking.

Do you like their photos, do you like their composition, do you like the colours and the sharpness of their photos, do you like the lighting you see, do you imagine yourself in those photos, do you like their style?

If you answer yes to all these questions, chances are you have found the photographer you are looking for, however there are other things to consider.

2. Reviews ✅

Reading reviews from previous clients is very important.

If the photographer is really professional, you will be able to find reviews of him on his social networks, on his website or on any platform where he advertises his services.

These references will help you to get to know the personality and professionalism of the photographer better.

3. Clear information ℹ️

There is nothing worse than a misunderstanding.

When you request information from the photographer, make sure that he/she provides you with all the information you require in a clear and precise manner.

You are probably interested in knowing: what services and products he offers, if he has any discounts or promotions, the delivery time of the work, the date and time of the session, etc.

Try to solve all your doubts about what you are looking for before making a final decision and you will avoid having a bad time.

4. Customer service 💙

When you contact the photographer or his collaborators, observe how he/she makes you feel, do you feel comfortable, do you like the attention he/she is giving you?

This is very important, because that same service and attention is what you will find the day of the session or event.

5. Promotions 🏷️

Some photographers offer discounts or promotions all the time, don't forget to ask for them!

6. Prints 🎞️

Although printing photographs has fallen into disuse due to social media, many photographers offer printed photographs in their collections.

If you are one of those people who consider a printed photograph to be more valuable than an image on a screen then this can make a difference.

7. Price 💰

Of course price is an important factor, however don't base your entire decision on that.

My advice here is to compare the quality of the photos you see, rather than the quantity of photos you are offered.

The quality of the photos depends on the experience and the photographic equipment of each photographer, and believe me when I tell you that the quantity of photos delivered does not make a big difference in satisfaction between the offer of one photographer and another.

For example, many times at weddings there are up to 1000 or more photos per event! However, the bride and groom usually choose between 50 and 100 as their favourites (without considering "duplicate" photos or photos that look very similar).

Trust me when I tell you that 15 great photos are better than 100 half-good photos.
