What to do if it rains in my photoshoot
TIPS
There are certain things we cannot control during a photo shoot, and one of them, perhaps the most relevant of all, is the weather.
Imagine you have booked a date for your photo shoot, the weather forecast is favourable for that day, however, a tropical storm begins to develop in the Pacific Ocean and is rapidly approaching the Oaxacan coast. By the time the day of the shoot arrives it turns out that the rain forecast is high, making the onset of rain imminent.
Well, the first thing to do is to remain calm as there will almost always be solutions.
Here are some of them:
- Plan and prevent: If we can anticipate the rain we will have a better chance of success. As a photographer I am constantly monitoring the weather forecast as my work depends heavily on natural lighting and of course good weather. When the rain forecast is high and we have enough time we can plan a second option in a location with a roof or protected from the rain.
- Unexpected rain: Sometimes no matter how much planning we do, things can change suddenly. In this case there is most likely no plan B as the rain came without warning. In this case, if the session is in an open place, you will have to cancel it and plan it for another time on the same day or the following days.
As you can see, there are always options, so don't worry, everything will be fine.
